Baptisms

We're delighted that you are enquiring about baptism. In baptism, we thank God for His gift of life and publicly acknowledge His love. Baptism is one of the first steps Christians take on their journey with Jesus.  It reminds us of when Jesus himself was baptised in the River Jordan.

At St Catherine's we welcome people of all ages to be baptised.

Many people have children and infants baptised at our church. This is sometimes known as christening. Children are precious to all of us and to God. In having their children baptised, parents are: thanking God for his gift of life; making a decision to start their child on the journey of faith and asking for the support of the church.

If you are interested in baptism at St Catherine's, please email followergerrard1@gmail.com or telephone Revd. David Gerrard on 07753 417339. There is no charge for baptism in our church.

Baptism usually takes place as part of our regular Sunday morning service, or it may be performed in a separate service under some circumstances. As the baptism service involves welcoming people into the family of the church, we ask that those who are being baptised or their parents attend church at least once before the actual baptism service. They will also need to attend a baptism preparation meeting with the vicar.
